J&D will wait or try to come earlier for you and adjust the delivery time.
When you arrive at the airport or the port J&D do not have an office there, you will meet J&D staff.
There will be many people, so please be patient.
Please have for each driver the driving license and identity card or passport for the J&D staff to check. Please check a few days before travelling that your driving license or your identity card or passport or credit or debit card have not expired.

Communication to the mobile phone number with SMS or applications for smartphones such as Viber, Whatsapp, Messenger and Skype is also possible.
Please save these numbers in your mobile phone before travelling, so if there is a last minute delay, change of time or cancelation in short notice, or if you do not find the J&D colleague to deliver or return the car, then you must inform J&D by phone, even with an SMS.
Returning the car, if you want or if there is a problem, you may arrange to drive and return the car to the J&D main office.
Then a J&D colleague will take you to the airport, port, hotel or your accommodation.

J&D do not require any deposit or guarantee from your credit card. In some cases where there is excess it is paid if and after the damage was made. You may rent a car from J&D without having a credit or debit card, providing you have the cash.

All prices are in Euro.
You could pay in Euro or Dollars or your country’s currency (exchange rate applied on the date of transaction) if available from the POS.
In the case the POS does not have signal, does not work due to battery, receipt paper may have run out, or any other problems then your credit card number, expiry date and cvv (the last three digits in the back of your credit card) may be copied on paper and the transaction may be made later in a J&D office.
In other cases you may visit a J&D office and try to make the transaction there. If there is a temporary problem with your card or J&D POS you may leave, go to a bank ATM, withdraw money and come and pay soon with cash. If you have paid in cash and there is a partial refund then it is made by cash. If you have paid with a card, then, if there is a refund, it is made with the same card.
The bank transaction made is on the date of delivering the car and your debit or credit card statement should write J&D rent a car.
Wi-Fi:
J&D can provide you with a Vodafone 4G SIM card mobile internet Wi-Fi router, its charger, and packets of Gigabyte Data per day or per volume. Up to 5 devices may be connected to it. Unfortunately there are some places in Rhodes island where network signal reception is not good. There are many different packets that change from time to time, so if you would like to activate one, then ask for recent information per e-mail or from J&D staff.
Airport:
If you have made a reservation for the airport then your flight number and local greek arrival time are necessary. When you get the luggage, walk outside the security gate.
There will be a J&D rent a car colleague who will wait for you with a J&D label or t-shirt near Exit Gate 5. He will take you to the car.
The car is parked after the taxis in the main airport parking area.
At the airport parking you will see a kiosk at the exit gate.
When you return the car with the same level of fuel and if everything is OK, at the airport parking you should leave the key to the man at the kiosk.
You do not have to pay for parking. The airport car parking kiosk is open 24 hours.
Please look at the photo that shows Rhodes airport J&D delivery and return.

For economy, category A, cars the driver must be minimum 21 years old.
For all other cars the driver must be minimum 23 years old.
All drivers must have a valid driving license for minimum 2 years.
The driving license and the rental agreement – contract must be carried with
you in the car.
There is no upper age restriction. There are no extra insurance fee charges
for senior citizens older than 70 years old.
Driving licenses from most European countries are accepted. For driving licenses outside Europe there is a check first that the country has signed a treaty with Greek Authorities and then it is accepted. Otherwise drivers should have a valid International Driving license.
Drivers should stop and take photos and report immediately to J&D car indications or problems or any accidents or damage directly at the spot where it happened. Driving further, unless J&D rent a car staff tell you to do so, may cause greater damage.
Full insurance damage waiver covers own damage to the car without
excess.
In some cases and always before the rental agreement is made there may
be some excess agreed.
The driver will be clearly informed of the reasons.
Communication:
J&D management and staff speak at least good English and some German. You
may be able to communicate in some other languages such as Italian or
Russian and French. So do not be afraid to contact J&D main office if
anything happens.
• The J&D main office telephone number is 0030 22410 85 885.
• The J&D emergency telephone is Mr. Jiannis Korfiatis 0030 69 44 380 680.
If you have no credit to call then it could be possible to call and then be
called back. Contact with Smartphone applications such as Viber, Messenger,
Whatsapp or Skype for sending photos, videos or other documents could also
be possible.
• The prefix for Greece is 0030. Three digit emergency numbers in Greece are
free and need no prefix. Police emergency number is 100. Ambulance is 166.
Fire brigade is 199.
Accident:
There are many kinds of accidents. In all cases you should be calm, even if
the others do not speak your language or any English. In that case you
should call J&D and let a J&D colleague speak with them. In all cases take
photos of the number plates and the damages of the vehicle or vehicles
involved and those nearby and report it to J&D as soon as possible. Do not
move the car or any other vehicle and do not leave the spot. Look for any
witnesses, asking their names and mobile phone number. If it was someone
else’s fault, then do not let the driver leave until an insurance report is
made that they accept their guilt. Unfortunately most of those who are
guilty will try to go away without any proof of their mistake. You should
make a photo of their driving license, the vehicle number plate, their
vehicle damages and get their mobile phone number. If the accident is with
another rent a car, then please also report the name of the rent a car
company.
• For the small accidents, even when the car may be driven safely, that you
may have caused yourself or others caused to you in a parking, even if the
drivers were not there or they were gone, you should stop, take photos of
the number plates and the damages of the vehicles and report to J&D. J&D
will then call the insurance company and tell you what to do. You may have
to wait for the insurance representative to come and fill in an accident
report.
• For greater damage accidents or accidents with injured people then you
should immediately call the Police and the Ambulance and report to J&D. A
J&D representative will come and will also call the insurance representative
to come on the spot. A Police and an insurance accident report are then made.
Car category and models: When you reserve a car with J&D you reserve mainly
the category of the car. J&D will try to satisfy you by bringing the car
model you requested, but if it is not possible then J&D will provide you
with a similar or better car.
Complaints: J&D try their best, but sometimes mistakes can happen. J&D
welcome any comments or complaints made by the customer. If you are not
satisfied with something then please report it at that moment directly to
J&D staff or management. J&D will make a sincere try to solve any problems
fast.
Alcohol: According to Greek Law alcohol limits are 0.5 grams of alcohol per
litre content in blood (blood test) or 0.25 miligrams per litre of content
on the air exhaled (police alcohol test). The limit is reached with
consumption of maximum 490 ml of beer, 200 ml of wine, 60 ml of ouzo, 55 ml
of whiskey or vodka. Due to the heat the effect of alcohol to the body may
be more intense than usual. Therefore it is advised not to drink alcohol. If
you may have a drink, then at least combine it with something to eat or have
a second driver. If you drink over the limit or use drugs and drive then the
insurance does not cover you..
Smoking: All J&D cars are smoke free and it is not allowed to smoke in the
car. If you make any ash marks on the seats you will be charged for their
repair.
Speeding: Speed limit in Rhodes island is 30 km/h and 50 km/h in inhabited
areas and 60 km/h or maximum 80 km/h on main roads. There often are signs
that indicate the speed limits. There are no automatic cameras installed by
the traffic police, but there are police cars with radars and laser guns
that control speed and they may stop you.
Driving off-road: Even if you have rented a SUV or 4X4 car from J&D you
should be careful when driving off-road for any unexpected damages, because
they will not be covered. You should be careful when parking the car near
the beach or any other place that has stone, gravel or sand, so that the car
is not stuck. If it is stuck then call the J&D road assistance.
Warning lamp: If a warning lamp – indication for oil or overheating is on,
then the driver should stop and report to J&D. Most yellow indications are
warnings. Red indications mean damage. If there is a fuel station nearby
then you may need to add oil or water to the engine. Most cars have yellow
tire pressure sensors that unfortunately may light up due to heat or dirt –
sand. Check the tires with your eyes or hands or with a pump at a fuel
station and if it is OK then you may drive.
Air-condition: All J&D cars have air-condition. If you leave it on for too
long without a stop, then it might freeze and no air is coming through the
ventilator. If you see liquid on the street under the car then, if it has
clear colour and no smell, it should not be oil, but water from the air-condition.
Tires: You should visually check the air pressure in the tires before
driving. You can check or add air in the tires in most fuel stations for
free. If you have a flat tire then you should stop. J&D cars have spare tire
and tools to replace or a kit to pump and repair the flat tire. If you are
not able to pump or change tires then report to J&D. The pavements in Rhodes
island are usually higher than in Europe, so keep a distance from them, for
the doors to open and the tires to be able to turn easier.
Manual or Automatic gears: Many drivers are used to driving only manual or
only automatic cars. Please select the appropriate gearbox suited to you.
Cases such as burning the clutch on steep uphill due to driver’s inability
may not be covered by the insurance.
Fines: The fines are written only in greek and are difficult to read.
Parking fines are pink and are usually left on the windscreen wipers. You
have to find the local tax office and pay the fine yourself or the easiest
procedure is to report the fine to J&D as soon as possible and come to one
J&D office to pay it. Our J&D colleagues will then pay the fine to the local
tax office. Police may also inform J&D main office for your fine. Drivers
who ignore and leave without paying fines may be searched for by the local
authorities even in their home country.
Parking: Parking in most areas on Rhodes island is free and easy. There is
difficulty for parking in Rhodes town and in Lindos, where it is allowed on
blue lines with parking tickets. There are automatic machines that you first
have to type the car number plate and then pay with coins only. White lines
in Rhodes town and in Lindos are allowed for parking only by the local area
inhabitants. No parking is allowed on yellow lines, they are mostly around
curves or narrow roads. There are specially designated areas for parking for
disabled people. You should leave your disability card at the front to be
seen clearly. Do not park on areas that are only for bikes or motorbikes,
pharmacies etc. You may ask J&D staff for advice.
Driving license: Most Russian and Israel driving licenses are accepted. Most
USA, Canada, Australia and other Commonwealth driving licenses are also
accepted. In other cases such, as African, Arab or Asian driving licenses,
the driver should also have a valid International Driving license.
Theft: It does not happen very often. The broken window or any other damage
to the car will be covered by the insurance. Your belongings in the car are
not covered and are left inside with personal risk. It is advised not to
leave bags, cameras, mobile phones or wallets in public view.
Rain: Car windows or sunroofs are not closing automatically. Do not forget
to close the windows or the sunroof before leaving the car. During the first
rain drops the streets get very slippery, due to dust, oils and exhaust
fumes, so be careful not to drive fast, especially on the curves and keep
longer distance from other vehicles. If it rains a lot, then the streets get
full of water, especially on the sides, therefore drive slowly through them.
Take account of other pedestrians or bikes or motorbikes and drive slowly
and at a distance when you overtake them. If your car windshield wipers are
not functioning properly due to wear and tear then you may visit or contact
the J&D main office in Faliraki to replace them.
Sun: It is advised for drivers to have sunglasses with them. Be careful when
driving early in the morning or before sunset when the sun rays are coming
straight in your eyes. The steering wheel and the car seats may get very hot
when the car is parked. Let the doors open for a couple of minutes before
entering. Mobile phones, cameras, GPS – Navigators if forgotten in the sun
will get too hot and will not function properly. Leave them in the glove box.
Please use the sun screen shade – protection provided in the car.
Car key: J&D may fix or replace the car key if it is worn due to normal wear
and tear or if its battery is emptied. There is no insurance cover and you
will be charged if you lose the car key, for example, in the sand on the
beach or if you damage its remote control, for example, you forget the key
in your swimming pants pocket and go in the water with it or if you use it
with wet hands. In all cases J&D hold safely a spare key of the car, so if
for example you get locked outside the car with the key inside, then report
it to J&D so that the staff may come and open it.
Passengers: Most economy cars and cabrio – open cars are for allowed for up
to 4 passengers. If you have 5 or more passengers then the rest will not be
covered by the insurance.
Car battery: Car head lights in most cars do not switch of automatically. Do
not forget to switch the lights off before you leave the car. Do not stay in
the car with the air-condition or the lights on but with the engine off,
because the battery will run out. If the battery runs out then call the J&D
road assistance to help you start the car, charge the battery or replace it
for free.
Car cleaning: J&D has its own staff who clean the cars. You do not have to
wash – clean the car. When you return the car in good condition there is no
charge for cleaning. There is a charge for cleaning only if the car or the
child seats are returned very dirty for example from too much sand, sun
cream or other stains etc. You should avoid driving on freshly repaired
roads or if you have to do so, then drive very slowly. Oil and stones from
the fresh tarmac gets stuck on the car and does go easily away. If you rent
the car for a long period then you may want to wash in between the car
yourself or at a fuel station with a charge. There is free external wash for
J&D cars at Quick Car wash with its own Aegean fuel station, Monday to
Saturday from 09:00 to 16:00. You will find it just outside the traffic
lights of the main road from Rhodes to Lindos junction on the way to the
hospital.
Car service and check: J&D has its own staff who check and service the car
before it is delivered to you for water, oil, tire pressure etc. In case,
for example, you have used all the water for the windscreen wipers or you
have less tire pressure or for any other reason then you may stop at the J&D
main office in Faliraki and the staff will be able to assist you free of
charge. If you rent the car for a long period or drive too many kilometers
then you should inspect the car in between.
Fuel: J&D rent a car, as well as other car rental companies in Rhodes,
unfortunately, are not able to have all cars full of fuel. You may get a car
a quarter or half full or so. When you get the car from a J&D colleague you
should look at the level of fuel and make a note on the rental agreement –
contract. You should return the car with the same level of fuel. Fuel is
either diesel (oil) or in most cases 95 octane unleaded petrol (benzin). At
the fuel stations there is no self service, but wait for assistance. You are
not expected to leave any tips, unless they wash your screen or help with
something else. Most fuel stations are open daily from 07:00 to 21:00, so
try to fuel in that time. Later in the night there are only a few fuel
stations open. Some fuel stations in the night might have self-service
machines, but they may not give any change, so put the correct amount. Most
economy cars have a 35 litre tank. In economy cars warning light means 6
litres left. Most compact cars have 45 litre tank with a warning light
appearing at 6 or 10 litres left. That means you have around 50 km to drive
with the warning light on. Most fuel indicators have 8 marked lines. To
calculate how many litres of fuel you need, you divide 35 / 8 = 4.5~5 litres
per line or 45 / 8 = 5.7~6 litres per line. For other cars ask the J&D
colleagues. Some diesel cars have an extra Add Blue tank that is filled up
by J&D staff. You may have to partially fill it up only if you have driven
more than the expected kilometers or if you rent the car for a long period
of time. If you do forgot to fill the car up with the same level of fuel or
if you could not find an open fuel station, then you may return the car with
less fuel and be charged to pay the difference. Returning the car with more
fuel will not grand you a refund.
Cancelation or early return: You may cancel your reservation 3 days before
without being charged full payment. You may also return the car at an
earlier date, but you will not get full refund.
Extra charges: J&D rent a car have no hidden charges or small letters in the
contract. There is 20 Euro charge for late night delivery between 23:00 and
07:00. There is a 15 Euro charge for delivery and collection from areas
longer than 20 km from the J&D main office in Faliraki. For example that is
areas longer than Archangelos village to the south.
Personal information and Fast Track Delivery procedure: J&D make the
delivery procedure very fast and easy if your data is already saved in our
reservations system. When you make a reservation it is advised to write and
inform J&D with the following for each driver: Driver name, Driver surname,
Date of birth, driving license number, date and country of issue, home
address, mobile phone number, any Smartphone applications to contact with,
such as Viber, Whatsapp, Messenger or Skype. If you get the car at the
airport you should write to J&D: the flight number, arrival date and greek
local time, airway company, home airport of departure. For departure from
Rhodes write the flight number, date and greek local time. It is advised to
be at Rhodes Diagoras airport minimum two hours before departure.
Personal Data Protection Act: J&D rent a car is compliant with the latest
Personal Data Protection Act. J&D has trained its staff and has invested in
alarms, cameras, latest information and technology systems that securely
save your personal data and will not share it with any others. Only in the
case of fines that are not paid, crimes or accidents then J&D may share your
data with the insurance company, the police or the local tax office.
Driving on Rhodes island: Rhodes has a very long and good road network, that
reaches all sightseeings and villages. The signs with names of places or
directions are written in greek and latin characters. It also has many turns,
uphills, downhills and narrow roads. In July and August there is the most
traffic. Due to excessive heat, side winds or intense sun requires for the
driver to have often brakes for rest. Plan them in your route. A second
driver to assist is always recommended and is therefore included in the
price. There are many other rented vehicles on the island, especially
motorbikes, whose drivers may not have great experience with side winds.
Therefore keep distance from them and when possible overtake them. All
driving regulations, signs, as well as the roundabouts the procedure is the
same as in the rest of Europe with the exception of one in Rhodes town
centre, on the coastal way to the airport, with the statue of Diagoras and
his sons. There are stop signs that assist you. There are many traffic
lights on junctions, but sometimes, especially when it rains they may not
function, so be careful.
J&D rent only cars, no other vehicles. J&D own no other business with any
similar name.
